Abstract
In the intrahepatic and extrahepatic biliary tract, precursor lesions of malignancy are defined as follows; biliary intraepithelial neoplasia (BilIN), intraductal papillary neoplasm, mucinous cystic neoplasm, and adenoma. BilIN is believed to be the noninvasive premalignant lesion of intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma and is classified with BilIN-1, BilIN-2, BilIN-3 according to the grade of atypia of biliary intraepithelial cell and structure. When there is a focal dilatation of intrahepatic biliary duct without definite cause on image, BilIN can be considered. We recently experienced two cases of biliary intraepithelial neoplasia diagnosed by operation. Here, we report on these two cases with the review of the reported literature.
